History everywhere
During the 14 th
and 15 th century, Judenburg had its heyday as the "Capital of
upper Styria". From the art point of view, the highlights to be
mentioned are Gothic glass paintings from local work-shops,
sculptures of wood and stone by Master Hans von Judenburg as well as
the works of the bell founder Hans Mitter.
The 18 th century
was determined by the "carving workshop of Judenburg"
founded by Balthasa Prandtstätter and continued by Johann Nischlwitzer. |

landmark of Judenburg
Those who climb up
the 256 steps leading to the gallery of the four-story, 75.66 meter
high city tower which was built between 1449 and 1509, are rewarded
by the magnificent panorama of the picture-esque roof landscape of
Judenburg and the marvelous outlook onto the surrounding Aichfeld
valley. The tower serves as a venue for exhibitions and a variety of events.

In the cultural
calendar of Judenburg you will not only find operas, operettas, and
concerts, theater and cabaret performances as well as exhibitions,
readings, and lectures, but also new and unconventional art.

"Summer in
Judenburg", the highlight of the cultural calendar takes place
every year in August and September and is a festival for everybody.
