Adaptive Ski Courses

.
Your landlady Mrs. Anni Gruber has all the Austrian qualifications to teach alpine skiing for people with
many kinds of bodily disabilities.
Adaptive ski courses can be individually arranged and varied to suit your needs.
The correct type and size of sit ski can be rented locally.
It is necessary to pre book the sit ski from the local firm of Alois Praschberger www.praschberger.com
.
Skiing in a sitting position
.
Depending on the type and level of disability there are two types of sit ski available.
.
Mono ski
.
To use a mono ski to its full extent you need reasonably good stomach and arm functions and flexible
hips and knee joints.
It is fitted with one alpine ski using hand out riggers with small skis attached.
A mono ski is mainly used by paraplegics, persons with double upper leg amputations and very low level quadriplegics and other disabilities where the hand and arm functions have not been limited or affected.
.
Bi ski
.
Bi skis are normally used by quadriplegics and persons with poor hand and balance functions.
They are also suitable for skiers who suffer from cerebralpasy or spina bifida.
Also they work very well for children who are to small for mono skis.
They can be steered by transferring the weight from side to side or with the aid of a helper who uses the
steering frame behind the sit ski and connected with a tethering rope.
There are fitted with two skis with a large side cut on the outside edge and two small side skis to stop the
ski falling to one side.
.
Adaptive Cross-Country-Skiing
