| Depending on the type and level of
disability there are two types of sit ski available. |

| Mono ski |
| . |
| To use a mono ski to its full extent you
need reasonably good stomach and arm functions and flexible |
| hips and knee joints. |
| It is fitted with one alpine ski using
hand out riggers with small skis attached. |
| A mono ski is mainly used by paraplegics,
persons with double upper leg amputations and very low level
quadriplegics and other disabilities where the hand and arm functions
have not been limited or affected. |

| Bi ski |

| Bi skis are normally used by quadriplegics
and persons with poor hand and balance functions. |
| They are also suitable for skiers who
suffer from cerebralpasy or spina bifida. |
| Also they work very well for children who
are to small for mono skis. |
| They can be steered by transferring the
weight from side to side or with the aid of a helper who uses the |
| steering frame behind the sit ski and
connected with a tethering rope. |
| There are fitted with two skis with a
large side cut on the outside edge and two small side skis to stop the |
| ski falling to one side. |
