Short Description:
SubSplicer is a tool to overlay two subtitle files of different languages for displaying them simultaneously.
It generates a text file (srt/sub) containing both subtitle streams. The subtitles are vertically stacked in multiple lines corresponding to their time marks. Overlapping subtitles are broken up into multiple parts if required, and empty lines are inserted for keeping vertical position. One subtitle set is displayed bottom aligned, the other one some lines above. They should seem independent. Applying different colors is optional
.

Work flow is intended to be straightforward:

1.) "Load Subtitle Files"
* Here you can load the subtitle sets, which appear in "upper" and "lower" postion. File format is determined by extension "srt" or "sub". Additional text codings are available via "add/remove".
* It is possible to join multiple files by checking "append". For convenient synchronizing the textbox selects the first subtitle of the last loaded file. By placing links to the selected and to the previous subtiltle you can adjust the offset between the two files. Since ver.1.1 time shifting or stretching for the whole appended file is available
.

2.) "Synchronize"
* "Add Link" links the currently selected subtitles of both subtitle boxes for synchronizing. Double clicking to a subtitle will select the "nearest" subtitle in the other box.
* "Delete Link" deletes the selected link inside the "link box". Double clicking a link will select the corresponding subtitles.
* "Synchronize" will synchronize the subtitle set. Subtitles beyond the first and last link are shifted, "rubberbanding" is applied between. Timing constraints like maximum "characters per second" and minimum "gap" are taken from the "Process" section.
* Further timing corrections like framerate conversion, shifting and stretching are available via the "Timing" button.
* "Strip ()" removes text placed inside various brackets like hearing impaired or format tags.
* You can "Save" the modifyed subtitle set. Text coding is taken from the "Process" section. If fileformat is converted, most text format tags will get lost. Conversion may work only for italic, bold & underline
.

3.) "Process & Save"
* "Chars/sec" tries stretching the duration for better readability.
* "Snap" selects the tolerance for trimming upper and lower subtitles for equal transition times. The resulting stream size can be reduced that way.
* "Gap" sets the minimum time between two consecutive subtitles. Normally set to zero.
* "Join Lines" converts both upper and lower subtitles into single lines.
* "Bottom Lines" selects the vertical position of the "upper" subtitles. Empty lines are inserted as needed according to the the "lower" subtitle sets line count.
* "Last Line Normal/Dot/Doubled" selects dfferent styles for the bottom line, if it would be empty. Some subtitle tools ignore trailing empty lines or skip the last one.
* "Use Color Tags" will apply different colors to upper and lower subtitles.
* "Process & Save" will merge the two subtitle sets and save it to the file specified. File format ist determined by the extension srt/sub
.

4.) "Donate & Exit"
* "Donate" is really the most important button. It will open your beloved browser navigating directly to PayPal. Your donation will be very appreciated!
